Brandon Heyen's journey proves that champions aren't made in victory alone—they're forged through adversity. Born September 2, 1992, Brandon grew up with an unshakeable love for basketball that carried him to All-State honors at Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.
Standing 6'8" with natural talent, Brandon dominated the court, earning all-conference recognition and setting his school's all-time blocked shots record. His performance earned him a scholarship to Illinois Wesleyan University, where his real education in basketball—and life—was just beginning.

After appearing in just six games his freshman year, a severe ankle injury requiring surgery changed everything. For two full seasons, Brandon watched from the sidelines as his teammates competed at the highest levels.
Those difficult years revealed something powerful: being part of two NCAA Division III Final Four runs and two CCIW Conference Championships from the bench gave Brandon a unique understanding of what truly drives championship teams. He studied film, supported teammates, and gained insights that playing alone never could have taught him.
"What started as the lowest point in my basketball career became the foundation for everything I do today. Those two years watching from the sidelines taught me more about the game than any playing time ever could." - Brandon Heyen
As Heyen Hoops has grown, Brandon has assembled a team of coaches who share his commitment to individual development and championship mindset. Each coach brings unique experience and expertise to serve athletes at every level.
